Explorer Liveaboard Profile

The EcoXplorer Liveaboard, operated by the EcoNusa Foundation, supports environmental conservation, Indigenous empowerment, and sustainable development in Eastern Indonesia, particularly Papua and Maluku. It protects biodiversity, marine ecosystems, and unique cultures, combining ecotourism with education and outreach to benefit local communities.

It was originally named Inbekwan and managed by Conservation International (CI) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the boat was granted to EcoNusa in 2020. It was then rebuilt in Bira, South Sulawesi, using traditional Phinisi techniques by local Bugis shipbuilders.

Today, the EcoXplorer Liveaboard functions as a modern liveaboard expedition vessel, supporting research, public service, and community engagement. All profits are reinvested into EcoNusa’s programs focusing on education, health access, and Indigenous-led conservation.
